By Barbara Carubio

There are a lot of challenges with working from home. What are they? How to overcome it? Some freelancers get okay with it but some of them have difficulties overcoming it.  Here are some lists of challenges and how to overcome them.

Communication challenges
Communication isn’t always productive and some freelancers need to deal with it.  The only solution to this problem is to communicate as much as possible, you need to clarify every detail to avoid misunderstanding, don’t forget to speak up and listen carefully.

Work-life-balance
How can freelancers have a work-life balance when they are just staying inside their houses? Cut that bad habit of yours like working on your bed, not taking breaks, keeping messy, etc. In order to have a work-life balance, you should start with yourself.

Work-life balance tips while working from home:

  • Take a break
  • Have a quick exercise daily
  • Maintain healthy diet

Distractions
When you are working from home, distractions are everywhere like noises, TV, books, dishes, laundry, kids and etc. To avoid distractions, keep a firm barrier between work life and home life. Have a decent workspace set up that will limit being distracted or interrupted.

Working too much
Working too much can cause you to burnout and can increase your stress level.   In order to avoid that, you need to commit to stop overworking yourself. Don’t work too much, remember tomorrow is another day. You will get exhausted by everything and you can’t focus clearly.

How to avoid overworking:

  • Take regular breaks
  • Turn off notifications
  • Practice saying No
  • Medidate
  • Prioritize your work

Social isolation
One of the biggest challenges of working from home especially to those extroverts. Humans need interactions with other people. You get bored and lonely, and it will end up you talking to a delivery guy just to get interaction with humans. Video call helps a little but it’s not the same as having a face to face interaction.
