Read Much?

Even though we’re all super busy these days, it’s great to read to gain new perspectives on business, an issue or just a great fiction title for a change of pace.

In case you need ideas, here are several books I’ve read recently:

  • Rework, by Jason Fried and David Heinemeir Hansson-these guys break all of the “rules” in business and still succeed. If you’re heard of Basecamp, the project management software, these are the guys who created this great tool.
  • Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin and the Race of a Lifetime, by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin  I’m not into politics much, but this is a fascinating book on how Obama’s campaign spread like wildfire, while the Republicans plan did not. This one makes you think how a grassroots approach really can work.
  • The Help by Kathryn Stockett  This is a great read about women/racism in the 60s. Most likely a “chick book”, if you want an accurate account of “how things were” in the 60s, you’ll want to read this one.
  • The E-Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber   Great book for anyone who owns their own business or is considering starting their business. Just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you should own a company doing that “something”. Doing versus managing are two very different things. Great reality check!

Happy Reading!
